(2 chips | Mod me!)

[02 Apr 2007|05:59pm]

Hi, I was wondering what to do for my PS2 (slim version) because I want to be able to play imported games, but at the same time I don't want to have to modify my PS2 or do anything that would void the warranty. I've heard of Swap Magic, so I guess I'd just like to know if anyone has used that, if it works well, or if there are any better suggestions as to what I can do. Thanks in advance!

PS2 Modding: Where to Start? [23 Jun 2006|12:56pm]

lauraorganasolo
I've always wanted to be able to play imports on my American PS2 (I'll have to verify what version it is since I had my first gen RAed under warranty for the faulty laser/disc red issue but it's not the ultra-thin one). I figured I'd just buy when while I was in Japan this past December, but when I saw the pricetags, I changed my mind.

So, I guess it's about time I modded my own. Except that there's such a large variety of different types of mods to make them "regionless," I'm really not sure which type I should go with.

Do you have any recommendations or experiences you would mind sharing with a n00b to this modification business?

Thank you.

Game freezes ever since Xenium [02 Sep 2005|06:49pm]

beaznuts
[ mood | confused ]

Hello! I recently installed a Xenium chip into my version 1.6 Xbox and everything has worked great EXCEPT for one thing: Full Spectrum Warrior will not run.

I've tried booting into the MS Bios running off the CD... instant freeze.
... booting into the EvoX Bios running off the CD... instant freeze.
... ran a copy off the hard drive... instant freeze.

This game (as well as anything Live! related) instantly CRASH my Xbox when they are accessed. I don't know if it's related or not. I'll be getting a vanilla Xbox again soon (if I can't find a fix for my Live crash... but I'm probably I'd probably get banned with this one anyway, with the upgraded HD and all)... but has anyone seen something like this before?

Hey, I just bought a set of Swapmagic discs and a slide card, and a version of Tales of Symphonia in Japanese. I have a V9 PS2. I tried three times to get the game to work, but I kept getting the message "Not a valid PS2 disc". It's possible I didn't succeed completely in using the slide card, but I think I did, and I was wondering if anyone had advice, or if the problem was with the game itself. I don't want to solder anything into my PS2, all I want to do is be able to play imports.

I have a V7 PS2 mod w/ DSM4 EZ. w/ Toxic 3.2. and I've been having loading problems. Loading between anything takes about 15 minutes. I've adjusted the lazer, white cogs, radial screw, and audio video pots. And still Silent Hill 3 doesn't load right. Anything more I can do to get this game to work? I've burned the disk Maxell dvdr at x2.

hello hello [25 Mar 2005|07:40am]

linus_of_hate
i'm new to this place even though i've been here befor.
anyways ,
i really hope anyone can help me here .

i bought two xcuter 2.6 lite chips , i installed the first one in a xbox 1.1
no problems what so ever. the second was to go into my friends x-box which was
a 1.0 well i got it closed up and powered it on . it powered itself off 3 times
in a row the last of which it came back on but the eject botton light was flashing
green and red . so long story short , i ended up messing up the xbox by soldering
and resoldering the chip in place . so i went out and got another xbox this one being
a 1.4 (i think) i put the chip in and fired it up. the same thing happed powered itself
on then off 3 times then blinking green and red . so i think it's my soldering ?
so i redo it a couple of times and it's still acting the same way . i should mention in
here that all these xboxs would work just fine with the mod chip in the "off" position
on the switch or if i unhooked it .

i decide to test out my other chip on the one working xbox so all i do is change the
chip on the harness plug thing. the working chip makes it work and the non-working
one messes up. so i decided it's the chip. i write divineo.com a few times about
a refund or replacement for the non-working chip . i get a big run around including
a series of emails that kept telling me to email the other address to get help
because the one emailed wasn't the email address that handled refunds but ,
when i would email the one they told me to in that one they' point at the
other one and back and forth for like 4 weeks or so .
i emailed everything to do with mod chips and went on forums and everything else
no one responded to my cry's for help and i didn't get a refund or replacement .

i give my friend my xbox modded with a 120gig drive in it because
it works and i burned out his.

so i let some months go by because i was frustrated
to say the least.

i get a spider chip because i heard it was a good product . i went through divineo.com
again because it was easy and i figured the spider chip would work .
well i was really wrong . i installed it on a 1.0 xbox and all it does is
the same thing the other did power cylcles 3 times then blinks green and red..
i pop off the little wire thing and the xbox fires up into the MS xbox bios .

so now i am at a complete loss do i have yet another bad mod chip ?
is the cromwell bios screwed ?

i hope you guys can help me out because,
i have no idea what the hell is going on
and i can't seem to find out ANYWHERE !

i am not ordering from divineo.com ever again i can tell you that much

thanks for your time and everything

hey, my names josh, and im trying to mod my xbox, and Im looking for a little help. I put in my chip, flashed it with xecuter2, and have EvoX running as a dash off of a CD.

But I cant get my computer to recognize my xbox, even with an FTP program, and i think it may be because i forgot to unlock my harddrive, but now i dont have that option anymore with xecuter2.

So if anyone knows what the hell im talking about, and maybe knows how to help, id be happy to hear from you.

anithr question [18 Jan 2005|08:18pm]

im_a_hot_dancer
question, those of you with modded xboxes, how long have you hadded them modded?

i ask because one person i talked to about modding said you constantly need to be tweaking stuff to keep it working properly and it turned out be more hassle than its worth

and another friend said he got his modded at some store in his area and it worked fine for a month or so then the whole xbox stopped working.

are these normal occurances? i know if you solder the wrong thing or somethin you can fuck p yer box bad, but does it happen often where it works a while then just breaks completely?

im just worried cuz i'd really like to mod my xbox but i dont have alot of money to just be spending on a new xbox so i was just wondering if its worth it, or am i onna have to constantly tweak it or if itll make my xbox just stop afte a few months?

4. When I am downloading a dash off xbins what file am I looking for? Do I load the whole folder or just certain files?

5. What is the proper way to burn the bios and dash?

6. How do I back up my HDD?

a few questions.... [16 Jan 2005|10:20pm]

im_a_hot_dancer
ok, hi, I'm new here and I have some questions. sorry if theyre dumb, but I'm new to all this. for the past few years I've played nothing but a few select games on nintendo and playstation and a few emulators on my PC. well as of recently ive decided i need an xbox, mostly due to SW: KOTOR, SW: KOTOR II, and Fable, and also a few weeks ago I met this guy who had like 5 emulators and 600 Roms on his xbox, plus a bunch of xbox games, right on the xbox. So between all thisI finally decided this is all way too good to pass up.

ok, so, enough history, now the questions.

-how exactly do i do all that? i mean, i know i need a mod chip of sorts, but where do i get one, which do i get?

-how do i get the roms/emulators ont he xbox?

-how do i get xbox games on the xbox?

-how do i get save states from places such as gameFAQs on my xbox?

-i've read a few FAQs but nothin really answered exactly what i needed, but i never saw anythign about macs, everything said 'transfering from PC" or "using yer window based OS...", can i still do shit even though i now have a mac?

-what are the chances of completely wreckign my xbox by using a modchip?

-how hard are they to instal/use?

-do i NEED a new harddrive or is it just recomended? how much space does an xbox game take up? an emulator? a typical rom? do xboxes use normal PC type harddrives or are there special xbox hard drives?

-i saw someone else on here got cooling fans for their xbox, is that needed? i play mosly RPG/action type games and i do tend to play for like 7-9 hours at a time, so is a cooling fan needed at all?

-what other cool shit can i do to/with the xbox?

hmm, i think thats it, but if theres any other info youd like to share with me would be wonderful....

help! evo m8 bios problems [06 Jan 2005|12:00pm]

oceandonkey
I have xbox ver 1.0, with an x-chip (solderless adapter) w/usb support. I put the x-chip in before i loaded a bios and it would boot to the Cromwell main menu and all was fine, I took the chip out, tried to load the Evo m8.bin and when I put the chip back in, the ring light on teh front of the xbox goes from Red > Orange and it stays at orange and I never get any video at all. If i take the x-chip out my xbox works perfectly.

I'm stil a noob at this kinda stuff, so mebbie i missed a big important step somewhere?

Also when I try to restore the defaults back to teh x-chip by [File > Load RAW] and then loading the full.bin it either locks up the x-chip controller program or blue screen's my comptuer and reboots when I try to [write changes]

anyone have any idea what I might have done/not done

thanks!!

I just modded my friends Xbox with an X-Chip, now I need to find a bios to load on it. Does anyone have one they can send me, from what i've read evox_xchip_V1.3.bin seems to be the one to get?

Also, is there a solder-less mod chip for the PS2 or Gamecube?

thanks in advance!

I am going to send my Xbox to Color Ware but I am still undecided on what color I want.

Candy Apple or Techno?

Techno would be cool because of the blue LEDs already available for the Xbox. I have not seen any red LEDs though.
